Meryl Streep was born on June 22, 1949, in New Jersey, in the United States. She has taught at Vassar College since 1971, and has attended Yale University since 1975. She has a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Fine Arts.
She started acting in 1971. She is considered one of the best actresses alive today. She has an amazing ability to master all dialects, and she says that she does so thanks to the help of her language trainers. She excelled in playing many roles, which made her worthy of the title of living legend. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
She had fallen in love with the American actor John Cazale, who died of cancer.

She is the most nominated actress in Academy Awards history with 19 nominations, including 15 nominations for the Academy Award for Best Actress, and four nominations for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her first award nomination was in 1979 for her role in The Deer Hunter.
She won three of those nominations. First Best Supporting Actress Award in 1980 for her role in Kramer vs. Kramer. And the second award for Best Leading Actress in 1983 for her role in the film Sophie’s Choice. And the third award for Best Leading Actress in 2012 for her role in the movie Iron Woman. It was also nominated for twenty-five Golden Globe Awards, winning eight of them. This is the first in the number of nominations for these two awards.
