Maryam Al-Ghamdi was born on January 1, 1949 in the city of Al-Baha in Saudi Arabia. She is the first Saudi woman to stand on stage, the first to act as an actress, and the first Saudi broadcaster on the radio, which she worked for as a child in 1962. She received a bachelor’s degree in English literature from King Abdulaziz University in 1989. She is the first Saudi woman to own an institution for the production and distribution of radio works. She was one of the first to read news bulletins at the launch of the Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel and the first woman to read the news bulletin on Radio Riyadh. She is also the first Saudi woman to write a script in television business since 1983. She also worked as an administrator in girls’ education as a teacher in public schools. She participated in controversial dramatic artworks, which caused her to be attacked and threatened. She was appointed among the first three female members of the Board of Directors of the Culture and Arts Association and for the first time in the history of the association.
